Diseases that affect muscle mass

bullet
Hypo functioning gonads (testicular tumors)

The male reproductive organs are called testicles. A man's testicles produce a hormone known as testosterone. During puberty, testosterone levels increase, and cause the development of secondary sexual characteristics (physical changes) such as: penis and testicle growth, increase in muscle and bone mass, sex drive, increase in height, facial and pubic hair, and deepening of the voice. Testosterone levels will maintain these characteristics throughout a man's adult life, and will also affect male pattern baldness.

Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in males, between 15 and 35 years of age. The usual course of treatment is surgical removal of one or both testicles. This causes a decrease or absence of testosterone, and will cause a decrease in all of the physical changes noted above. Testosterone levels are affected by the pituitary gland.

Problems caused by testicles malfunction include:

bullet Low back pain bullet Low energy
bullet Headaches bullet Low sex drive
bullet Abdominal pain bullet Delayed puberty
bullet Impotency bullet Decrease in any secondary sexual characteristics,
bullet Sciatica   such as: decrease in muscle mass, lack of facial
bullet Mood swings   hair, high voice, and feminine characteristic.
bullet Erratic body changes

If you suffer and consider 4 of the above as potential health problems, then you may be suffering from testicular malfunction.

bullet
Hypo pituitarism (tumors)

The Pituitary gland is called the "master gland" because of its influence on many glands and organs in the body. The pituitary, the existence of which has been known for 2,000 years, is regulated by the hypothalamus. It attaches to the hypothalamus by a stalk called the pituitary stalk. The pituitary weighs less than 1 gram, but do not let its size fool you, because it has a dramatic effect over all body chemistry.

The pituitary controls the:
bullet

Adrenal glands

bullet Thyroid gland
bullet Parathyroid glands
bullet Ovaries/uterus and testicles/prostate
bullet Pancreas
bullet Thymus

In turn, these glands have a dramatic control over organ
and system function in the body.

The purpose of the pituitary is to:

bullet

Control growth and repair

bullet Stimulate metabolism
bullet Regulate sex hormone production in men and women
bullet Regulate energy production
bullet Regulate water balance in the body

Common health problems of pituitary malfunction may include:

bullet A slow metabolism leading bullet Diabetes
  to weight problems bullet Hypoglycemia
bullet A sluggish or overactive thyroid bullet Weak immune system leading
bullet Fatigue or lack of energy   to many illnesses
bullet Fluid retention from kidney, bladder, bullet Inadequacy and feeling out of control
or colon problems bullet Feelings often dominating over logic,
bullet Menstrual conditions such as,   and changeable moody temperament
irregular or painful periods, ovarian bullet Vivid dreaming
cysts, fibrocystic breasts, uterine bullet Suppressed emotions
fibroids, and inability to become bullet Feeling empty and depleted
pregnant or to maintain pregnancy. bullet Poor memory
bullet Erectile dysfunction bullet Dwelling on sexual matters
bullet Lack of sex drive bullet Greed with disregard for others
bullet Depression

If you suffer and consider 4 of the above as potential health problems,
then you may be suffering from pituitary malfunction.

bullet
Hypo adrenalism (tumors)

The adrenal or suprarenal glands are paired with each gland located on the upper portion of each kidney. Each gland is actually two endocrine glands divided into an outer layer, which is called the cortex, and an inner layer, called the medulla. The adrenal cortex is necessary and essential to life, but the medulla is not and can be removed with no life-threatening effects.

The adrenal cortex produces hormones called glucocorticoids that help in the control of blood sugar and increase the burning of protein, sugar and fat. These hormones also respond to fever, major illness/disease, and injury. Another group of hormones from the adrenal cortex are called mineralcorticoids. These hormones control the volume of blood (thus regulating blood pressure) by affecting the kidneys to maintain sodium potassium and water levels. A third group of hormones called androgens (sex hormones) affect secondary sex characteristics in both men and women.

The adrenal medulla produces a hormone known as epinephrine (adrenaline), which increases the heart rate, dilates (opens) airways to improve oxygen intake, and increases blood flow to muscles. This usually occurs when a person is excited or stressed. A second hormone, known as Norepinephrine, is also produced by the adrenal medulla. This hormone is related more to maintaining normal activities as opposed to emergency reactions.

Problems caused by the adrenal cortex include:

bullet Fever bullet Loss of secondary sexual characteristics
bullet Frequent urination bullet Osteoporosis
bullet Emotional or mood swings bullet Kidney conditions
bullet Mid back pain bullet Fluid retention
bullet Inflammatory reactions bullet Kidney stones
bullet High/Low blood pressure bullet Weight gain
bullet Rapid pulse bullet Difficulty handling sugar, protein or fats
bullet Loss of sex drive

Problems caused by the adrenal medulla include:

bullet Fatigue bullet High/Low blood pressure
bullet Emotional or mood swings bullet Rapid pulse
bullet Mid back pain

If you suffer and consider 4 of the above as potential health problems, then you may be suffering from adrenal cortex malfunction.

Hypothyroidism

Diseases of the thyroid are the most common of all the endocrine glands, notably due to iodine deficiencies in North America. The thyroid, one of the larger endocrine glands, is located in front of your breathing airway (trachea), and below your Adam's apple. The thyroid produces two hormones:

bullet

Thyroxin, which controls your metabolism (how much energy you burn)

bullet

Calcitonin, which controls calcium and phosphorus levels in the bone and the

blood by taking calcium and phosphorus out of the blood, and depositing
  them into the bones.

Thyroid disorders result from either too little (hypothyroid) or too much

(hyperthyroid) thyroxin or calcitonin.

Symptoms of Hypothyroidism include:

bullet

Decreased energy

bullet Hair loss
bullet Weight gain bullet Dislike of  working under pressure
bullet Slow heart rate bullet Dislike of  being watched
bullet Dry skin bullet Mental depression
bullet Constipation bullet Irritability
bullet Low body temperature bullet Mood swings
(feeling cold all the time) bullet Low self-esteem
bullet In children, slowed growth; and in bullet Crying easily
  infants, affects development and
  causes mental retardation

Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism include:

bullet Anxiety bullet Like working under pressure
bullet Fast heart rate bullet Mentally active
bullet Diarrhea bullet Irritability
bullet Weight loss bullet Mood swings
bullet Bulging eyes bullet High self-esteem
bullet Qualities of aggressive bullet Difficulty sleeping, relaxing or resting
  overachievement

If you suffer and consider 4 of the above as potential health problems, then you may be suffering from thyroid malfunction.

bullet Muscle wasting diseases

In order for you to increase your muscle mass you must have:

bullet The right diet
bullet The right exercise program
bullet A healthy ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
bullet A healthy REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

bullet Your sex hormones determine how much muscle you can put on.
bullet For example, if you have a low testosterone level you can only gain so much muscle as compared to a person who's testosterone level is high who can gain muscle with ease.

How a Blood Analysis test can help you even more

Remember, it's always important when beginning a new health regime to get a blood analysis first to see if you have a health condition that has a biochemical imbalance as the root cause. This test will identify as well as determine what type of diet you should be eating and which organs or glands may be malfunctioning. This information will help determine which supplements you require. This is about as specific and focused as you can get using nutritional support
